Project Overview

A digital platform designed for a diverse school community

Littleover Community School serves a large and diverse student and parent community in Derby. Their website plays a critical role in day-to-day communication, from sharing key updates to supporting internal systems used by staff and pupils.

However, the existing platform no longer reflected the needs of the school. Built on a legacy CMS, it was difficult to manage, limited in flexibility, and not designed to support a multilingual audience.

We partnered with Littleover to deliver a complete digital transformation. The goal was to modernise the brand, improve accessibility, and create a platform that works seamlessly for both external communication and internal operations.

The Challenge

Outdated systems limiting efficiency

The existing website created friction across multiple areas.

Content updates were slow and restrictive. The design felt dated and lacked clarity. And the platform did not effectively support the school’s multilingual community.

Internally, key systems such as the staff and pupil directory were difficult to use and maintain, impacting efficiency across the school.

The challenge was to create a single, cohesive platform that supports communication, accessibility, and everyday operations.

The Solution

A modern, accessible platform built for real-world use

We redesigned the website with a focus on clarity, usability, and inclusivity.

The brand was refreshed to introduce a more modern, confident look and feel, while still reflecting the school’s identity and values. Content is now structured clearly, making it easier for parents, pupils, and staff to find what they need quickly.

Every element of the platform was designed around how it is used day to day. From quick access to key information, to seamless content management for staff, the site now supports both communication and efficiency.

Migration

Moving to a flexible modern CMS

We migrated the school from a dated legacy system to Statamic, providing a faster, more secure, and significantly more flexible platform.

Statamic’s flat-file architecture improves performance and reduces maintenance overhead, while its intuitive editing experience gives staff full control over content without technical barriers.

The result is a CMS that is easy to manage, quick to update, and built to scale with the school’s needs.

Accessibility

Supporting a multilingual community

Accessibility was a central focus throughout the project.

We introduced multiple language options, including Arabic, Urdu, and Punjabi, ensuring key information is accessible to a wider community of parents and guardians. This helps remove barriers to communication and supports stronger engagement between the school and families.

Combined with clear layouts and accessible design standards, the platform delivers a more inclusive experience for all users.

Communication

Extending the website into the school

The website was designed to go beyond the browser.

We implemented RSS feeds that power content across the school’s interactive boards, ensuring news, announcements, and updates are shared consistently in real time. This creates a direct link between the website and the physical school environment.

It transforms the platform into a central communication hub, keeping staff and pupils informed wherever they are.

Systems

Systems that support staff and pupils

Alongside the public-facing website, we rebuilt the school’s internal directory used for staff and pupil applications.

The new system is faster, more intuitive, and designed around real usage needs. It improves access to key information, simplifies internal processes, and reduces the time spent managing data.

This creates a more efficient experience for staff, while giving pupils easier access to the tools they rely on.

Partnership

Built for long-term use and ongoing improvement

This was a collaborative project from the outset, shaped around the needs of the school and its community.

The result is not just a new website, but a platform that supports communication, accessibility, and day-to-day operations.

With a flexible CMS and scalable infrastructure in place, Littleover Community School is now equipped to evolve its digital presence over time, ensuring it continues to meet the needs of its students, staff, and families.
